Prof. Dr. Gerhard Wolf ist Direktor am Kunsthistorischen Institut in Florenz, Max-Planck-Institut, Mitglied der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften und Honorarprofessor an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Er forscht zur Kunstgeschichte des Mittelmeerraums seit der Spätantike und zu globalen Bildkulturen.
