Autorenportrait

Slimane Merouani is full Professor of process engineering at Department of Chemical Engineering, Salah Boubnider Constantine 3 University (Algeria). He received his Accreditation to Supervise Research (ASR) (2015) in process engineering from Constantine 3 Salah Boubnider University, his PhD (2014) and Magister (MSc) (2010) in chemical engineering from Badji Mokhtar-Annaba University (Algeria) and his state engineer diploma (2006) in chemical engineering from Constantine 1 University (Algeria). His research interests focus on innovative technologies for water and wastewater treatment, especially, sonochemistry and advanced oxidation processes (AOPs). Prof. Merouani has successfully supervised to completion the work of 07 PhD and 25 MSc, and currently, 04 PhD thesis are under his supervision. To date, Prof. Merouani has over 140 peer-reviewed artices, 01 edited book, and 45 book chapters. His publications have been cited over 4000 times (Scopus), with five having been cited more than 100 times each, and he has an author h-index of 33 (Scopus). Prof. Merouani has appeared in the 2022 list of the World’s Top 2% Scientists (the Highly Cited Researchers) published by Stanford University. Actually, Prof. Merouani is Associate Editor of the journal Scientific African, edited by Elsevier, and Guest Editor of the Special Issue "Ultrasound, Sonochemistry and Innovative Separation Technologies Applied to Chemical and Environmental Engineering" in the journal Molecules, edited by MDPI. In parallel, he supervised many research projects focusing on water treatment by sonochemistry and AOPs. Oualid Hamdaoui is a full professor of chemical engineering at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. He currently heads the Advanced Oxidation and Separation Processes research group. After receiving his B.Sc. and M.Sc. both in Chemical Engineering from Annaba University (Algeria), he received his Ph.D. in Environmental Chemical Engineering from the University of Savoie (France) and his Sc.D. in Chemical Engineering from Annaba University. He received his Habilitation (Accreditation to Supervise Research) in Process Engineering from Annaba University. He has been ranked in the top two percent of the world's best scientists in a database created by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier and SciTech Strategies. His main research interests are sonochemistry, acoustic cavitation, advanced oxidation processes, separation processes, and desalination and water treatment. He has published more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals, ~20 book chapters, and edited the Elsevier book "Energy Aspects of Acoustic Cavitation and Sonochemistry: Fundamentals and Engineering". His H-index is 55 with 9813 citations (Scopus). He has held several academic appointments as coordinator of M.S. and Ph.D. programs in chemical and environmental process engineering. He has received many awards including the Thomson Reuters Award in Engineering, Scopus Award (Elsevier) in Chemical Engineering, Francophonie Award for Young Researchers Option Sciences and Medicine, ranked first on the list of suitable candidates for the title of Full Professor (Technology Section) of the twenty-sixth (26th) session of the National University Commission, Abdul-Hameed Shoman Award for Young Arab Researchers in Engineering Sciences, Jordan and the Best Scientific Publication Award of the National Agency for the Development of University Research.
